Balboa School in Escondido to add Elementary Program and Dual Language for 2019-2020 School Year

Balboa School

ESCONDIDO, CA - Looking for a non-faith based affordable private school in North County? Balboa School will be opening an elementary program next school year and will also be adding dual language immersion in Mandarin/English. Don't miss their upcoming Open House on Sunday March 17th from 12:30-2:00pm for Grades TK-12.

Balboa School has been around for 20 years and was originally in the Balboa Park area of San Diego. The focus originally was on middle and high school programs, but they are now expanding to include elementary students. The school moved to north county a couple years ago and is currently housed on the campus of Bethel Baptist Church in the Felicita Park area of Escondido, next to Miller Elementary School.

The WASC accredited private school is located in a two story building at the back on the church campus that use to be the church's preschool. Balboa School has leased this building and use of the outdoor space for 10 years and has the ability to expand as they grow. The downstairs will be the elementary grades while the upstairs will be the upper grades. The classrooms for the younger students will be close to the lobby and include child size bathrooms and water fountains, both of which are inside the classroom.

All Grades Art Classroom

The Dual Language program will be for grades TK-3 in the first year and adding a grade each additional year. The students will start their day with ELA in Mandarin followed by math in Mandarin. In the afternoon they will do ELA in English and then math in English.

All grades receive PE, art, music, and drama. Seen here is a picture of the art room where many art projects are displayed. Their art teacher graduated from Shih Chien University and has received 3 awards from the New York State Council on Arts. She will be teaching the students various art forms throughout the school year at each of their ability levels. She also teaches photography.

Students have an opportunity to buy lunch each day if they do not wish to bring their own. Options include items like hot dogs, pizza, and sandwiches. The older students have a super fun lunch room/hangout space, including an air hockey and ping pong table.
